FSU Alumnus Honored for Teaching

David Buskirk, a kindergarten teacher at Beall Elementary with 15 years of experience, was featured in the 2025 Maryland Teacher of the Year bios for his dedication to student growth and school leadership. An FSU graduate with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and a Master’s in Administration and Supervision, he co-chairs the ELA team, serves on school improvement and attendance teams, mentors student interns, and is pursuing National Board Certification. He also volunteers as a coach for Allegany County Special Olympics, demonstrating his commitment to students and the broader community.
