About the College
The College of Humanities, Arts, and Sciences is the intellectual and creative center of the university. Comprised of 6 academic departments, the College offers 26 undergraduate degree programs, 38 undergraduate minor programs, and graduate degree programs in Wildlife Fisheries Biology, Applied Ecology and Conservation Biology and Environmental Management in Sustainability. The College delivers most of the courses in FSU’s General Education Program, which is required of all undergraduate students, and it houses interdisciplinary programs such as the Liberal Studies program and the fully online Multidisciplinary Studies program.

The College occupies space in buildings across campus, including Compton Science Center, Dunkle Hall, the Fine Arts building, Frampton Hall, the Woodward D. Pealer Performing Arts Center, and the Catherine R. Gira Center for Communications and Information Technology (CCIT). You can see building locations on the FSU campus map.

Mission
The mission of the College of Humanities, Arts, and Sciences is to prepare students to live meaningful and impactful lives by providing a transformational educational experience grounded in the liberal arts tradition.
The college’s mission is achieved through rigorous academic programs delivered by accomplished faculty who are committed to excellence in teaching and learning, and scholarly and artistic endeavors. Students are prepared to critically examine perennial and emerging issues using the methods of different fields of study; and they are supported as they apply the knowledge and skills gained in the classroom to real-world settings, conduct independent research, and pursue creative projects. The College of Humanities, Arts, and Sciences is a regional hub for intellectual and cultural enrichment and civic education and engagement; and, beyond the campus, the college cultivates partnerships to promote the good of the regional community.
The college achieves its mission when its graduates are equipped to confidently pursue a life of purpose and are dedicated to learning as a lifelong endeavor.

GOAL 1: Increase enrollments and success rates in all CHAS programs year-over-year (“Student Enrollment and Success”)
Strategy A: Implement program-level recruitment practices that generate enrollment growth and student success initiatives that promote retention and graduation
Strategy B: Conduct annual reviews of all college programs based on key performance indicators, including enrollment and success rates, and implement improvement measures as needed
Strategy C: Identify and initiate new academic programs that are responsive to student interest and societal need
GOAL 2: Persuasively convey the significance of the liberal and creative arts to careers and life in the 21st century (“Visibility and Value”)
Strategy A: Celebrate and publicize college activities and faculty, staff, and student accomplishments
