MRPA The Association's highest award, it is presented to either a member or nonmember, once in their life for having made a significant contribution to recreation and parks movement in Maryland. The award is accompanied with a citation from the Governor of Maryland indicating the contribution made. Awarded: April 2005.

President's Award for Outstanding Service on the National Level. American Canoe Association, The award was presented for my long term contribution to boating safety. Awarded: November 2004.

Outstanding Faculty Award. The award is for campus wide recognition In the service category. In general, the award recognized my contribution to creating innovative programs including the Park and Recreation Resources Management (PRRM) Graduate Program, Adventure Sports and Hospitality Management concentrations, the CCBC program, and a major revision of the Undergraduate Program. Frostburg State University. Awarded: 1999.
