Scott P. Johnson
Dr. Scott P. Johnson has been a professor of Political Science, Coordinator of Criminal and Legal Studies, and Pre-Law advisor at Frostburg State University since 1999. He holds a B.A. from Youngstown State University, and an M.A. from the University of Akron. He received his Ph.D. in public law from Kent State University in 1998. He has taught courses in political science at Kent State University, John Carroll University and SUNY-Fredonia and has authored numerous articles in law journals and law reviews. Dr. Johnson received a Faculty Achievement Award for Academic Accomplishment in 2011 and 2014 and also received the FSU Outstanding Mentor Award in 2012 for his work with pre-law students. He has published a book entitled The Faces of Lee Harvey Oswald (2013) and an encyclopedia entitled Trials of the Century (2010). Most recently, he published a book with McFarland Publishing entitled Political Assassins, Terrorists and Related Conspiracies in American History (2020).
John McMullen
Dr. John McMullen is a professor of sociology and has been at Frostburg since 2000. He earned his Ph.D. is in sociology from Virginia Tech. He has an M.A. in applied social research from WVU, and earned a Bachelor's in sociology from Frostburg in 1988. His research has included studies on rural policing and house arrest, and most recently assisting with a statewide study of low-income individuals in Maryland. Dr. McMullen has served on the Council of University System Faculty, Faculty Handbook Committee, Faculty Appeals, the Allegany County Juvenile Review Board, and Human Resources Development Commission. In addition to this he has been the chapter representative for Alpha Kappa Delta (Sociology Honor Society) and director of internships. Dr. McMullen teaches a wide variety of classes including Intro to Sociology, Deviant Behaviors, Criminology, Juvenile Delinquency, American Correctional System, Research Methods, Sociology of Urban Life, Sociology of Work and Occupations, and Race and Crime.
David Lewis
Dr. David Lewis is a professor of Political Science and has been at Frostburg State University since 1994. His teaching interests include American Politics, Constitutional Law, the Presidency, and Criminal Justice. He received his M.A., and Ph.D., from the University of California, Davis. Dr. Lewis has published in prestigious journals such as Presidential Studies Quarterly, Justice System Journal, and Polity.
David Atenasio
Dr. David Atenasio is a lecturer in the Philosophy Department at Frostburg State University, teaching courses in ethics, law, and criminal justice. For the 2018-19 year, Dr. Atenasio was an ACLS/Mellon Dissertation Completion Fellow. He wrote his dissertation on the topic of complicity and collective responsibility in legal and moral theory, and his present research focuses on the concept of crime. Dr. Atenasio received his B.M., from the University of Massachusetts Lowell; M.A., from St. John’s College; M.A. from Miami University; and Ph.D., from Loyola University Chicago. Dr. Atenasio's publications have appeared in Criminal Justice Ethics, Res Publica, and Social Theory and Practice.
