April 4th is designated as “MLK Day at FSU, in recognition and celebration of the life of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.” While the national MLK day is on January 15th (his birthday), classes are not in session at FSU, so we honor his legacy on April 4th, the anniversary of the day he was assassinated in 1968. The presentation was very interactive including an activity “Dr. King Had a Dream. What’s Your Dream?” Civil rights speaker and educator, Rasheed Ali Cromwell, Esq. and Joe Davidson, a journalist for The Washington Post and president of the National Association of Black Journalists, co-presented “The MLK You Never Knew: Bias, Media and Image,”, from their professional experiences and perspectives. This program was a collaborative effort between the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Dr. Sheri Whalen, of the Department of Communication.
