Advising and Registration

The mission of the Advising Center is to assist students by collaborating with them in identifying and pursuing their educational goals, providing accurate and timely information, and promoting student responsibility and accountability for their academic success. They provide information about degree requirements for Early Childhood/Elementary Education (a dual major with a 24-hour early childhood specialization), Elementary Education (a major with a selected 24-hour concentration) and Elementary/Middle Education (a dual major with a selected 24-hour specialization). They also check students’ progress toward graduation and verify completion of degree requirements.

The Advising Center aids in the advisement of two types of students: native freshmen and transfer students. Faculty guide freshmen as they declare their majors and select appropriate courses for the general education program (GEP), their education major, and their chosen specializations. The advising of transfer students includes a complete review of all transfer classes and the Transfer Credit Evaluation from the Admissions Office. Transfer students are also assisted with transfer course issues and monitoring of degree progress.
