Dual Enrollment Program Details

Admission Requirements

  • Admission to a community college nursing program
  • Selective process based on courses completed, GPA, and mutual decisions between schools.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher in community college required admission courses
  • Additional required courses need completed with a “C” or better by the start of the first nursing course and must be equivalent to our
    • Chemistry 100, 150 or 201  4 credits (must include a lab)
    • Statistics  (MATH 109)  3 – 4 credits
    • Nutrition  (EXSS 200)   3 credits
    • Sociology (SOCI 100) 3 credits

Program Progression

  • Students must remain in the community college nursing program to continue in the dual enrollment option.
  • Students are expected to complete the sequence of study as outlined in the curriculum plan.
  • Students must successfully pass the NCLEX-RN to complete the remaining Frostburg State University courses.

Advanced Composition

We recommend taking your 300 level Advanced Composition class (ENGL 308) early in the program. This course is placed in the second or third semester of your progression with FSU. The APA formatting that you learn in this class will better prepare you to write your papers in the nursing program. This course cannot be taken through your community college.

Prerequisites

  • Before you can enroll in NURS 401, you must have completed a three-credit nutrition class equivalent to our EXSS 200 (previously HEED 200).
  • Before you can enroll in NURS 402, you must have completed a three-credit statistics class equivalent to our MATH 109 (previously 209).

Orientation

You will be enrolled in an online orientation class. The online orientation course will allow you time to get familiar with the RN-BSN Program, our Learning Management System, and Student Resources including technical support, library assistance, and advising processes.  There is no charge for this course. Completion of the six-week course is mandatory.

Student Identification Card

To receive an FSU ID you must be enrolled in classes. If you are not registered for the current semester through People Soft/Paws, please wait to submit your picture.

  • Send a snapshot of your head with a light blue background as a jpeg attachment. PLEASE DO NOT SEND A PHOTOSHOP IMAGE.
  • Please allow 10 to 15 business days for the return. If your photo is not acceptable, ID Services will send you a response and request another picture.

Textbooks

Textbook information can be found on our FSU Bookstore web site, under the “TEXTBOOKS” tab.   The same textbook is used in all sections of the class.
