FSU’s Admission Standards

Frostburg State looks for students prepared to join in the life of an intellectual community. First-year students are evaluated by their high school transcript, performance on the SAT/ACT, and optional letters of recommendation and essay.

  • What counts as a college preparatory program in high school?
    • 4 units of English
    • 3 units of social science / history
    • 3 units of biological and physical science in at least two different subject areas. Two of the units must include a laboratory experience.

    • 2 units of a foreign language or, in Maryland, 2 units of advanced technology

FSU accepts applications on a rolling basis, starting on September 15 and continuing until there is no further space for students.

At first, I was interested in Frostburg for my academic major, but it was when I visited campus that I knew this was the school for me. I loved the community feel and the positive atmosphere here at Frostburg. Everyone that I met on my visit to the school was so nice and welcoming, which really set the bar high for other schools.
