Frostburg State University’s online Master of Science in Applied Computer Science has been ranked fourth on GetEducated.com’s newest “Best Buy” list of the nation’s 19 most affordable online master’s of computer science degrees. The national affordability ranking was the result of a comprehensive, data-driven review of 41 online computer science master’s programs.

“The Frostburg State University Master of Science in Applied Computer Science received great marks in our 2017 ranking report. This program represents the future of online learning, providing students real-life computer science challenges in an affordable program,” said Tony Huffman, president of GetEducated.com. “Frostburg State’s MS in Applied Computer Science ranked fourth as a best buy in a group of over 40 institutions. GetEducated.com calculated the national average in-state cost of a computer science master’s program at a regionally accredited institution at $27,500. Even for out-of-state students, Frostburg’s program is significantly less expensive. Frostburg’s total in-state program cost was calculated to be $12,270; total out-of-state costs were $15,630.

Frostburg’s online MS in Applied Computer Science offers flexibility for working computer science professionals, including an optional introductory track for individuals with no computer science background. Enrollees can specialize in a database concentration or a general computer science specialization offering broad, applied knowledge of computer networking and communications, software engineering, artificial intelligence and web design.

Recent Frostburg graduates can earn their MS in Applied Computer Science in as little as one year. Career changers on the optional introductory track can earn their degree in one and a half to two years.
