Major: Health Science

Hometown: Frostburg, Md.

Why did you choose to attend Frostburg State University?

I chose Frostburg State University because it is close to home, affordable, and all my immediate family members are alumni. I like the close community environment that Frostburg provides.

What extracurricular activities are you involved in?

I am in the Pre-Professional Medical Society on campus. I am also a student alumni ambassador and work for the Alumni Relations office.

What is your favorite memory as a student?

I don’t have a specific memory, but my favorite time of year is Homecoming and Family Weekend. Each year I have been a student here, homecoming seems to get more fun and exciting.

Which faculty and/or staff member has influenced you as a student?

The faculty member who influenced me the most is Dr. Karen Keller. She is wise, compassionate, and always willing to help her students.

What advice would you give to a student currently studying your major?

I would tell them to dedicate themselves to their school work and study as much as possible, but also to prioritize their friends, family, and hobbies. Doing well in school is important, but also allowing yourself time to be with friends and doing activities you enjoy helps tremendously.

Tell us about a class or activity at FSU that has had a surprising effect on your life.

An activity that has had a significant effect on my life has been working as a student alumni ambassador. This job has allowed me to connect with numerous current students, staff, and alumni. It’s allowed me to network with so many new people and form connections that I never would have had the opportunity to create.
