Presidents’ Leadership Academy
The Presidents‘ Leadership Academy provides values-based fraternities and sororities with opportunities to build leadership skills. The two-day training program, which takes place each January prior to the commencement of the spring semester, brings FSU Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) presidents together to contemplate their needs as incoming leaders, and to discover methods for strengthening their chapters.
The training curriculum, developed and facilitated by the Assistant Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life and the Fraternity and Sorority Life Council Board, addresses self, others, chapter functionality, and current trends in the FSL world.
The program commences with time to bond with other FSL presidents. Then, by leading and participating in small group workshops and large group discussions, participants will examine valuable topics including personal strengths and areas for improvement; leadership and learning styles; creative program development; and risk management. They will also explore project open space to discuss meaningful issues within the FSL community and to brainstorm on possible resolutions.
The experience concludes with time for reflection that encourages participants to develop action plans for themselves and their chapters and to coordinate efforts with their advisor and the national office.
