National Coalition Building Institute
The National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI) was founded in 1984 in Washington, D.C. as a non-profit leadership training organization. NCBI works to eliminate prejudice and conflict in communities throughout the world. It is the goal of NCBI and Frostburg State University to build relationships that allow people to become allies, to increase the skill of listening to people, hearing their stories and understanding their issues to allow us to develop coalitions and reframe issues to work on common ground.
Student Testimony
I firmly believe in helping others, but to help others, I have to help myself first. And the National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI) did just that. It showed me that I had to uncover those unconscious biases and be willing to work with anyone from any background, as in the world, you do not just work with your race and gender all the time.
