What is Psi Chi?

It is the National Honor Society for Psychology Students. 


Why should I join?
  • Be a member of one of the most prestigious Honor societies on campus.
  • Be one of the few who can wear the blue and gold honor cord at graduation.
  • Be eligible for exclusive scholarships.
  • Be involved in the fun and excitement of Psychological Conventions.
  • Be able to present a paper as a Psi Chi member at conventions. 
  • Be noteworthy among your faculty and potential employers. 

Requirements for Membership in the National Organization 
  1. Completion of three semesters of college courses.
  2. Completion of nine semester hours of psychology (either 6 credit hours, and currently enrolled in three additional credit hours at FSU, or nine credit hours at FSU).
  3. Psychology major or minor.
  4. Undergraduates who are elected to Psi Chi must have an overall GPA of 3.00 and a Psychology GPA of 3.20.
  5. For graduate students, an average grade of “B or better in all graduate courses.
  6. High standards of personal behavior.
  7. Two-thirds affirmative vote of those present at a regular meeting of the chapter


Other Information

Dues are required. There is a one-time only fee associated with Psi Chi, a national fee of $55, which you will pay online after your application has been approved.

 

To Apply

Fill out the Psi Chi application, and return it to Connie Capacchione (Psych Dept Admin Asst) in Lowndes Hall 210-2 or Dr. Jennifer Flinn in Lowndes Hall 219. No money is due at the time this form is handed in...if you are accepted for membership, you will receive additional information from Psi Chi regarding dues. Although you may apply for Psi Chi at any time during the year, Psi Chi induction is typically only held at the end of the spring semester
