Apr 28: Weekly Update from President Nowaczyk

Apr 28, 2021 3:42 PM

Good afternoon,

Here are some updates for this week:

I want to thank Chancellor Perman for his visit to FSU earlier this week. He has been visiting all the USM campuses. He toured campus, talking with students, faculty and staff. He also met with leaders from the Faculty and Staff Senates, the Cabinet and SGA. The Chancellor also recorded an interview to be broadcast on WFWM. He was very complimentary about his discussions with the campus community.

The university’s positivity rate remained below 1 percent this week, yet the university community must remain vigilant during these final days of classes and finals. THE VIRUS IS STILL IN OUR COMMUNITY.

Vaccinations are an important part of overcoming the pandemic. More than 1,300 students and employees have reported receiving a first, second or single dose of a vaccine. And 1,085 members of the campus community have reported being fully vaccinated.

As you know, the University System of Maryland announced last Friday that vaccinations will be required on all USM campuses this coming fall, for all eligible on-campus students and employees with exemptions for medical or religious reasons. We will be sharing more information as it becomes available.

As we go into our final days of class and then exams, please stay safe and be well. You can find information about this year’s commencement activities here.
