May 4: COVID Testing Update, Vaccination Reminder
Testing results from April 26 to May 2. Through the university’s twice-weekly testing protocol, 9 positive tests were identified during last week’s seven-day testing period. The week’s positivity rate is 0.57 percent. Additionally, 1,363 FSU students and employees have reported receiving a first dose, second dose or single dose of a COVID vaccine. And 1,157 have reported being fully vaccinated.

As you know, the University System of Maryland announced last Friday that vaccinations will be required on all USM campuses this coming fall, for all eligible on-campus students and employees with exemptions for medical or religious reasons. We will be sharing more information as it becomes available.

Apr 27: COVID Testing Update, Testing Reminder
Testing results from April 19-25. Through the university’s twice-weekly testing protocol, 15 positive tests were identified during last week’s seven-day testing period. The week’s positivity rate is 0.75 percent. While the rate remains below the region and state positivity rates, students and employees must remember that the virus IS IN OUR community and practicing health and safety measures is essential.

The Chancellor of the University System of Maryland, after consultation with the university presidents and other system leaders, has announced that students, faculty and staff on our campuses will need to be vaccinated for the fall 2021 semester.

The week’s positivity rate is 0.93 percent. The rate remains just below 1 percent and below the region and state positivity rates, BUT students and employees must remember that the virus IS IN OUR community and practicing health and safety measures is essential.

Frostburg State University saw its first rise this semester in positive tests recently. While our positivity rate remains below 1 percent, we don’t want to see additional increases. Our monitoring indicates the cases have been clustered in limited areas and apartments within two residence halls.
