January 24 Update
Jan 24, 2022 10:00 AM
We are facing a significant delay in receiving the antigen COVID tests we have ordered because of widespread demand. As a result, we are making the following temporary changes to our testing protocol at the Frostburg campus.
- Universal re-entry testing ends as of noon today as scheduled.
- Testing of asymptomatic individuals with authorized exemptions and voluntary testing of those who are vaccinated is suspended.
- Athletics testing will be reduced to meet the minimum standards required by the Mountain East Conference. Student-Athletes will receive information from the Athletic Director.
Our current supply of tests is being reserved for Brady Health, which tests symptomatic students. Faculty and staff should contact their primary care provider or local urgent care center for testing.
Non-symptomatic people who still want to test can order their free kits from the government, purchase them at local stores, or use the county’s free, thrice-weekly drive-through testing center at the Allegany County Fairgrounds. (You can find more testing site information on the Maryland.gov COVID-19 Testing in Maryland web site. In the meantime, please continue to monitor your symptoms daily as you check in to the FSU COVID Check-In Portal and adhere to other established protocols.
If we are able to reasonably gain access to more tests, we may consider reinstating our previous protocol, but we will have to determine that option when conditions warrant.
And as a reminder, continue to wear your mask properly, monitor your symptoms and stay home if you experience symptoms. The University Store has KN95 masks in stock.
