Welcome to the Department of Digital Media and Visual Arts at Frostburg State University.

We offer two major programs: a Bachelor of Science in Emerging Media, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art and Design. Whether you want to work in media, graphic design, or explore traditional studio arts, you will hone your creative skills in coursework and high-impact experiences with faculty dedicated to providing a quality educational experience centered on you. You will be a part of an inclusive and close-knit community of creators and scholars who work together to enhance the cultural life of Frostburg State University and beyond. Our faculty take pride in meeting our students where they are, and no matter where that is, will mentor our students to help them develop a broad range of creative skills and achieve their educational goals. Emerging Media students work in contemporary production spaces with an impressive array of current technology and equipment. Art and Design students explore their creativity in facilities devoted to a range of applications, from traditional painting and ceramics to computer-based design and interactive media. At Frostburg State University, Emerging Media and Art and Design students not only focus on coursework and experiences geared toward their chosen career paths taught by faculty dedicated to their success but also immerse themselves in a strong liberal arts curriculum that prepares graduates to positively and actively engage in a complex world with an interdisciplinary range of skills and relevant expertise.
