Internship

Putting your knowledge to work--that's what you'll do in your internship. Typically taken during your junior or senior year, you'll use what you learned in the classroom and apply it in the real-world experience. Not only does this help build your resume, but you also learn how to apply theories in a functioning workplace.

Intern Spotlight

A diehard Washington Redskins fan with a passion for promoting events, Cassidy Zagone was a special events and development intern for the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation.

Zagone took an in-depth look at how a charitable foundation attached to a National Football League franchise works with players, staff, team alumni, donors and community organizations during her summer at Redskins Park in Ashburn, Va.

Zagone then turned her summer internship into a second internship for the fall. As a Game Day intern, she helped with marketing and new strategies for the 50/50 raffle, which benefits the foundation.

Jetun Reeves

Jetun-Nadine Reeves says that during her internship on the Social Marketing Team she was On-Air personality. Her responsibilities included researching, interviewing and coming up with content. She enjoyed her internship because she got to have full creative control over projects and got to choose them. There is a lot of behind the scenes work that goes into this profession and she learned so much from her advisor Melissa Martz. This internship gave her a lot of helpful tools that she will use professionally.

Sidney Beeman

Sidney Beeman interned with FrostburgFirst in the fall of 2018. FrostburgFirst is a local organization that strives to provide economic development opportunities while maintaining the historic downtown.

As a Frostburg local, Sideny was excited to work in a internship that was close to home and helped benefit her hometown. She was tasked with a variety of projects from developing new social media campaigns to creating a short film series highlighting the downtown businesses.

"I was able to build so many different skill sets as well as continue to add to my portfolio. I am extremely thankful for the opportunities I had at FrostburgFirst and I would 100% recommend this internship to any Mass Communication student."
