Pre-arrival Meeting & Canvas


Pre-arrival Meeting

About one month before each semester begins, we hold a Pre-Arrival Meeting to help students complete important tasks—such as securing housing and a meal plan, obtaining health insurance, and understanding classroom expectations. This session also prepares students for what to expect when arriving in the U.S. and during their time at FSU.

Transportation

To and From the Airport

The CIE offers transportation from Dulles International Airport (IAD) at the start of each semester and return service to IAD at the end of the semester. Before arrival, students will receive an email with detailed instructions on when and where to meet the FSU representative at the airport.

Orientation

The day after arriving on campus, all new international students are required to attend a four-day orientation hosted by the CIE. Orientation sessions are held in small segments on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. The schedule, including times and locations, will be provided to students upon arrival in the U.S.

Orientation includes a campus tour, shopping trip, important information about visa rules and regulations, classroom expectations, health insurance, and other essential topics.

Note: The orientation schedule will be emailed to students once it is available. Please keep in mind that the schedule may be updated up until students arrive on campus. A finalized version will be provided when you check in at FSU.
