How to Apply

International and domestic students can apply to Frostburg University using our online application.

Please follow these steps:

  • Go to the Frostburg University Application Page.
  • Click on the "Apply Now" button. Do not use the Common App.
  • Follow the instructions on the application website to complete your submission.

Enrollment & Academic Requirements

Academic Requirements

Admission to Frostburg State University is based on more than simply completing required classes. We seek students who challenge themselves with a variety of rigorous courses, going beyond the minimum needed for graduation.

Before graduating from high school, applicants are expected to complete at least:

  • 4 units of English
  • 3 units of social science/history
  • 3 units of science in at least two subject areas (must include two laboratory courses)
  • 4 units of mathematics, including Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II
    • If Algebra II is completed before the final year, students must continue with advanced math coursework that uses non-trivial algebra
  • 2 units of a foreign language or (for Maryland students) 2 units of advanced technology

Required Documents

Required Documents for Receiving an I-20
Submit the following to the Center for International Education:

  • Copy of Passport Data Page
  • Official Transcripts – Required for all university work.
    • If transcripts are not in English, an official English translation must be included.
    • Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 (on a 4.0 U.S. scale).

Financial Certification Form (download here )
The Financial Certification Form must be completed and signed by both the financial sponsor and a bank official. The information on this form must match the details provided on the bank statements, including the bank name and account holder’s name.

If a bank official is unable to sign the form, the bank must instead provide a signed and stamped letter on official bank letterhead.


Bank Statements
To apply, students must provide a bank statement or an official bank letter showing sufficient funds to cover one year of study (including tuition and fees, room and board, health insurance, books, and personal expenses).
We recommend preparing two bank statements: one for FSU and one for your visa interview.

Requirements:

  • The name on the bank statement must match the name of the person signing the Financial Certification Form.
  • The statement must include the bank’s contact information (branch location, address, and phone number).
  • The statement must be less than 6 months old when the application is received.
  • Bank letters must be signed by a bank officer and printed on official letterhead.
  • Online account printouts are not acceptable.
  • Copies of financial documents may be submitted during the application process, but originals must be provided to CIE upon arrival.

Language Score Options
All results must be in English and verifiable through the agency website
