We will work as one college to be an inclusive learning community that inspires curiosity, animates creativity, fosters personal and professional growth, and exemplifies civil discourse and active public engagement.

Mission

The mission of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social & Behavioral Sciences is to prepare students to live meaningful and impactful lives by providing a transformational educational experience grounded in the liberal arts tradition.

The college’s mission is achieved through rigorous academic programs delivered by accomplished faculty who are committed to excellence in teaching and learning, and scholarly and artistic endeavors. Students are prepared to critically examine perennial and emerging issues using the methods of different fields of study; and they are supported as they apply the knowledge and skills gained in the classroom to real-world settings, conduct independent research, and pursue creative projects. The college is a regional hub for intellectual and cultural enrichment and civic education and engagement; and, beyond the campus, the college cultivates partnerships to promote the good of the regional community.

The college achieves its mission when its graduates are equipped to confidently pursue a life of purpose and are dedicated to learning as a lifelong endeavor.
