Program Requirements in Physics
Frostburg State University offers a major and minor in Physics by which you can earn a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Physics.
In physics, you'll study the laws that govern our very existence. From the big bang to small particle behavior, physics approaches nature on a fundamental level from the largest to the smallest scale.
At Frostburg State, you'll investigate the mechanics behind matter and motion through time and space. Deconstruct and solve problems by applying basic principles through experiments and mathematical analysis. As you progress through the program you'll work in multi-disciplinary teams to develop critical thinking and communication skills.

There are two tracks in the Physics Major. The Traditional Track includes Classical Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism and Astronomy. The Engineering Physics Track includes the option to take engineering courses in Dynamics and Electronics.

- The Physics Minor
The Physics Minor gives you the opportunity to supplement your studies in another major with several courses in physics.
The requirements of the Physics Minor are:
- Principles of Physics I, II, and III
- Experimental Physics
- Calculus I, II
- 3 additional credits in Physics at the 300-level or higher
