Four-Year Plan
You'll build knowledge where it counts. The bachelor’s in sport science program follows a straightforward four-year plan consisting of courses in foundational topics, as well as advanced and elective courses. You’ll take courses ranging from anatomy and physiology to nutrition to biomechanics to advanced strength training. -
Career Preparation
We train you so that you can train others. The Frostburg State exercise and sport science major prepares you to take the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) certification exam to become a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS). Or, take the American College of Sport Medicine ACSM) exam to become a certified exercise physiologist -
Choose Your Path
Up your game and strengthen your degree in exercise and sport science by pursuing a complementary minor in coaching. This 22-credit minor will have you learning from experienced coaches and working hands-on coaching Frostburg State athletics. -
Exercise and Sport Science Skills
Major gains, in more ways than one. Through the exercise and sport science major curriculum, you’ll gain the skills you need to achieve a fulfilling career in the health and wellness fields. You’ll do that all while in a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and the Committee on Accreditation for the Exercise Sciences.

What You Will Learn

As a student in the Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Science degree program, you’ll focus on hands-on, real-world learning opportunities, gaining a well-rounded sport science education. Among other things, you’ll learn to:
- Accurately evaluate the health of people at all ages using scientific measures
- Develop your knowledge and skills using FSU’s exceptional athletic facilities, including the Cordts Physical Education Center that operates the Activities for Life program serving campus and the surrounding community
- Prepare not only for becoming a certified strength and conditioning specialist or certified exercise physiologist but prepare for optional graduate coursework in health-related fields like human performance, Kinesiology, physical therapy, occupational therapy and exercise physiology.
