The Levitt AMP Cumberland Music Series brings the community together each summer through ten free, live outdoor concerts that celebrate music, connection and place. The series energizes Cumberland’s historic city center and showcases the Festival Grounds at Canal Place. With sweeping water views, gorgeous mountain scenery and a lively, welcoming atmosphere, Levitt AMP concerts have become a beloved gathering place to celebrate arts and culture in the tri-state western Maryland community.

Launched in 2023, the series features free, family-friendly concerts showcasing artists from a wide range of musical genres. Each week brings the community together—neighbors, friends and visitors of all ages—for an evening that celebrates music, connection and the arts. Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or a chair, invite friends and enjoy a vibrant summer tradition in the heart of Cumberland.

Nashville-based singer-songwriter Chloe Kimes is helping to define the next generation of folk-singing troubadours, blending an old-soul gift for storytelling with the grit and energy of a modern alt-country band. Her self-titled 2022 debut showcased rafter-reaching vocals and incisive songwriting, earning comparisons to Lucinda Williams and landing her on NPR’s list of Top 10 Nashville Artists on the Rise. With songs that are both intimate and fearless, Kimes delivers music that is grounded in tradition yet unmistakably her own.

Known as the Crown Prince of Zydeco, C.J. Chenier is a Creole-born, Grammy-nominated musician known for his soulful vocals and electrifying, accordion-driven zydeco and blues. Raised in a rich Indigenous American cultural tradition, Chenier carries forward the legacy of his father, zydeco pioneer Clifton Chenier, while forging a dynamic sound of his own. He has performed with artists including Paul Simon and Ray Parker, Jr. and appeared at major festivals such as the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and SXSW. ¡Tumbao! is a high-energy Latin fusion ensemble blending salsa, Afro-Cuban rhythms, cumbia, Latin jazz, funk, R&B and psychedelic Amazonian influences into a vibrant, genre-defying sound. Formed in 2019, the Raleigh-based group features a large, dynamic lineup of seasoned musicians and has quickly built a following through performances across the U.S. East Coast and in Lima, Peru. With electrifying stage presence and infectious grooves, ¡Tumbao! delivers a multicultural musical experience that celebrates the rich diversity of Latin American traditions while bringing communities together through rhythm and movement.

2026 Levitt AMP Cumberland Music Series FAQs

1 How do I get there and where do I park?
The Levitt AMP Cumberland Music Series will be held at the Festival Grounds at Canal Place in downtown Cumberland, with doors opening at 6:30 PM. Parking is available at the Canal Place lot next to the Western Maryland Train Station and in the City lot under I-68. Parking for the concert will NOT be permitted in the Footer Dye Works parking lot, and vehicles attempting to park there for the concerts will be at risk of being towed. Concert attendees are asked to enter the festival grounds at the entrance next to European Desserts in the Canal Shops, 17 Howard Street, Cumberland.
2 Will beverages be available?
Yes. In 2026, beer and wine will be available for purchase onsite, with individual servings offered. Cash only will be accepted, and all proceeds benefit the Levitt AMP Cumberland Music Series. Guests who wish to purchase beer or wine must present a valid ID and will receive a wristband.
Guests are also welcome to bring their own non-alcoholic beverages.
3 Will food be available?
Yes. Food vendors in 2026 include Café 832, Cassarelli’s Food Truck – a division of Giuseppe’s, In Between Café, Open Kitchen and the Queen City Scoop Shop. Participants are welcome to bring their own baskets with food.
4 What happens if it rains?
This year we continue to partner with Loft 129 as our designated rain location. Loft 129 is located at 129 Baltimore St. and is ADA-accessible. Loft 129 can seat approximately 100 people. Rain calls will be made no later than 12:00 PM on show days, and announcements will be made via the Cultural Events Series Facebook page or the Levitt AMP Cumberland Music Series Facebook group.
5 How are artists chosen for the series?

To qualify as a Levitt AMP Music Series performer, artists must present original, high-quality music that is appropriate for audiences of all ages. Eligible artists demonstrate professionalism, maintain an active and engaging social media presence, and have a regional or national touring history.

Artists are selected through a thoughtful review process led by the Levitt AMP Music Series team in collaboration with local stakeholders. Each season is curated to feature a diverse mix of high-quality, nationally touring and emerging artists across a wide range of genres. Selection criteria emphasize artistic excellence, broad audience appeal, diversity and an artist’s ability to meaningfully engage the community. Local context and community feedback also help shape the final lineup, ensuring the series reflects and serves western Maryland and the surrounding region.
