Global Civic Leaders

Frostburg State University is one of only ten universities in the country selected to participate in this national Global Civic Literacy initiative. Each Spring students may apply to serve as Global Civic Leaders. Those selected will have the opportunity to:

  • Increase your global awareness by accessing the WORLD 101 resources made available by the Council on Foreign Relations
  • Develop your skills and capacities to be global leaders (using Frostburg’s Leadership Competency Model as a guide): to approach issues with intellectual humility, compassion, with respect for science, and the understanding that we must build bridges across our differences
  • Work on projects that reflect the differences you want to make for our campus, our community, and the globe. You will be invited to develop new initiatives of your own or highlight how others are creating a brighter future for every person on the planet
Celebrate (or perhaps create) works of art– photographs, paintings, posters, documentaries, spoken words, music, and more – that capture the hopes and dreams of today’s youth.

Those with questions about this initiative may contact Patrick O'Brien Director of Civic Engagement.
