Outreach & Field-trips
In our mission of "Building a Passion for Lifelong Reading" we aspire to reach students in more ways than our annual free children's events, Pirates Ahoy, Harry Potter Book Night, and Storybook Holiday!
Beginning in our former location in Frampton Hall the CLC team began welcoming local schools for field trips! Typically, the field trips were hosted in an empty neighboring classroom and consisted of reading a book and completing a craft or activity to go along with the book. Since moving to our new location in the Education and Health Sciences Center Building, the CLC's field trips have looked the same, except our new location has added the opportunity to host students in our Centre amassing over 15,000 picture, chapter, and popup books! While in our new Centre we are still reading a book and completing a craft or activity to go along with the book, now the students are able to see the collection of books and if time allows, pick a few to read!
Since moving to our new location, our number of field trips have sky rocketed! Since our Fall 2023 move in, we have welcomed over 2,000 students from over 13 different schools, in 4 different states! We love welcoming students of all ages into our Centre to encourage a love of reading from toddlers, to teenagers.
While our outreach opportunities are primarily reserved for our Adopted school, we are always willing to discuss and attend depending on our availbility.
