Entrance to the Theatre Program & Talent Scholarships

The Department of Theatre and Dance welcomes in-person and online auditions and interviews for artists wishing to join the Theatre major and/or Musical Theatre minor at Frostburg State University. 

In-person audition and interviews are held on the campus of Frostburg State University. During this time, meet with current students, tour our facilities and be our guest during a performance of Where Words Once Were on March 11, 2023.

Please see the following details about each area of focus in Theatre and how auditions can be submitted and interviews can be requested. We can’t wait to see your work!

  • Acting Track & Musical Theatre Minor Auditions
      • Required submission: Resume and audition
      • Location: Visit us in-person on November 12, 2022 or March 11, 2023, or email materials to theatreanddance@frostburg.edu.
      • Acting Track Audition Requirements:
        1. A monologue and sixteen bars of a Broadway song
          OR
        2. Two contrasting monologues
      • Candidates auditioning for the Musical Theatre minor AND Acting Track must perform Option #1.
      • If you are auditioning for the Musical Theatre minor, use a recorded accompaniment (CD or downloaded karaoke) or live piano accompaniment. Please do not sing a cappella.

  • Theatrical Studies
      • Required submission: Auditions/interviews are not required for this track, although you are welcome to join us for the audition or interview process to get to know us and meet with current students. Simply follow the criteria for either the Acting track or Design and Technology track.
