The purpose of the Theatrical Studies Track is to give students the artistic and intellectual foundation necessary for a successful professional life in the theatre and its allied disciplines. To accomplish this, the Theatrical Studies Track provides a broad based study of the theatre discipline, for students planning to pursue careers in directing, playwriting, arts management, dramaturgy, and for students preparing to pursue graduate studies. It is also an excellent choice for students who wish to apply their theatre skills to other fields such as education, law, psychology or business.
Theatrical Studies Track students are required to take directing, acting, technical theatre courses and theatre history and literature courses. Students also have multiple opportunities for specialized training, including singing, dance, stage combat, and design. In addition, all theatre students complete a strong core of liberal arts courses. Students are evaluated each year through classroom assessment experiences.
Students who wish to pursue the Theatrical Studies Track must be admitted by Frostburg State University but do NOT need to audition/interview for entry into that track.
Students admitted to the Theatrical Studies Track who wish to change to either the Acting Track or Design/technical Theatre Track will be required to pass an audition/interview for admittance into those tracks.
