Honor Band Festival 2026

MARCH 13 - 15 (Fri.-Sun.)

High school wind and percussion students are invited to spend three days at Frostburg State University as participants in the Honor Band Festival.

Composer John Mackey will be our Artist-in-Residence for this year's Festival. The concert will feature some of his compositions.

Have opportunity to speak with John Mackey
Work with FSU Director of Bands, Peter B. Lewis
Attend masterclasses led by FSU music department faculty
Perform in Honor Band Festival Concert (see time, admission, repertoire info below)

BAND DIRECTOR'S NOMINATION

Band Directors: Please nominate your top candidates from each instrument section. Students should be able to sight read music at or above a Grade 3 level.

Instruct your nominated students to access this site and complete the Registration Form and pay the fee, and access the audition excerpts below to prepare for the audition (for seating placement only; acceptance is based on your nomination).

There will be no auditions this year. Seating placement will be based on Director's recommendation.

Registration must be submitted by Wednesday, March 11, at 9 PM.

Admission: $10 adult; $5 military, senior, FSU faculty & staff; Free for students and children
