Administrative Development and Professional Training Program

ADAPT Program Seal-LogoThe Administrative Development and Professional Training (ADAPT) Program is designed to enhance and develop the skills of administrative support professionals at Frostburg State University (FSU). The program aims to support employee development, align with Frostburg's strategic plan, build community, and equip participants with the skills needed for successful department management. The role of administrative support professionals has evolved, encompassing responsibilities beyond traditional clerical tasks to include project management and daily operational coordination. Given constant change, educational opportunities are essential to provide employees with timely, relevant information on emerging topics and challenges.

Program Curriculum & Design

The ADAPT program focuses on five key objectives:

  • Institutional Knowledge: Gaining understanding of university-specific policies and systems.
  • Competency Building and Strengthening: Developing and refining essential skills.
  • Self-Awareness: Promoting awareness of one's personality, values, work styles, and strengths.
  • Professional Development: Enhancing job performance and personal growth.
  • Community Building: Cultivating relationships among administrative support professionals across campus to drive more effective communication and collaboration.

The program is structured as a cohort model, with up to 10 participants from various university departments. This design fosters interaction, builds professional relationships, and creates a learning community for meaningful career contributions.
