Plan Year 2022 Open Enrollment Notice

Open Enrollment begins October 18, 2021 and ends at 5 pm on November 12, 2021

The Office of Human Resources is pleased to announce that this year’s Open Enrollment for State of Maryland (SOM) health benefits will be online using State Personnel System (SPS) Workday beginning October 18 through November 12, 2022 at 5 pm. 

You'll need your W-number to login which can be found via the Payroll POSC site under "View SPS Emplyee ID".

During this time, eligible faculty and staff can enroll in and/or make changes to their Health Benefits for an effective date of January 1, 2022. Employees will receive alerts about Open Enrollment from the SOM via the SPS Workday system.

Faculty and staff currently enrolled in SOM health benefits and others eligible for Open Enrollment for the 2022 Plan Year will conduct Open Enrollment through SPS Workday. This system allows faculty and staff to access, enroll in, and manage benefits through one online portal.

Employees are encouraged to review the attached document “Complete Open Enrollment Elections”, before the start of Open Enrollment. This reference guide provides step by step instructions regarding Open Enrollment.

You Must Take Action If …

• You want to enroll for the first time, change plans, or change coverage levels for 2022
• You wish to participate or continue to participate in a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for 2022. The IRS requires all flexible spending account participants to re-enroll in these plans every year. If you wish to continue these plan(s), be sure to make your elections for the 2022 Plan Year by the Nov. 12, 2021 deadline

If you are NOT making any changes or DO NOT want to enroll in a Flexible Spending Account (FSA), your current coverage will rollover to 2022.

Open Enrollment information WILL NOT be mailed to faculty and staff.  The 2022 Benefits Guide, 2022 Rates and other important information will only be accessible online.
