Dec 15, 2021 10:20 AM
On Friday, December 10, the University System of Maryland Board of Regents approved an adjustment to the nonexempt pay structure system-wide for current regular status nonexempt employees to increase the minimum wage to $15 per hour. All current full-time regular status nonexempt employees whose pay falls below the minimum of their assigned position’s pay range in the revised structure will have their pay adjusted to meet the new minimum of the range.
The nonexempt pay structure adjustment will begin January 12, 2022 — which is the beginning of the first full pay period after January 1, 2022. (Pay Date February 2, 2022)

In Chancellor Perman’s statement, he has indicated that he is also aware that this is a multi-step process. An adjustment like this has a ripple effect and the system will be studying the full scope and scale of pay adjustments that will need to be made as a result.
